Microbiome Sequencing
Microbial sequencing is a fast and affordable way to study microbial species, functions, and communities. CD Genomics, a sequencing-focused biotechnology company, provides a microbiome sequencing service to researchers based on our high-end sequencing technology platform to help them conduct relevant research.
What Is Microbiome Sequencing?
Microbiome sequencing is the analysis of DNA from environmental samples of bacteria (16S rDNA), fungi (18S/ITS), functional genes, and other genes by PCR amplification of specific lengths and sequencing of the amplification products. It is an important anti-method for the current study of environmental microbial diversity and community composition differences.
Microbiome Sequencing Types
- The 16S rRNA gene is commonly found in bacterial microorganisms. It is located in the small subunit of the ribosome in the bacterial genome, containing 10 conserved regions and 9 highly variable regions. The conserved regions can be used to design primers for amplification of target fragments, and the highly variable regions contain species-specific sequences that can distinguish between different bacteria.
- Sequencing of the fungal microbiome was performed by 18S rDNA or ITS. Sequencing of 18S rDNA or ITS1 and ITS2 is used to study the structural diversity of eukaryotic microbial communities in environmental samples.
Customers Need to Provide
Samples
- For soil samples, the total sample volume is greater than 1g.
- For intestinal contents/fecal samples, the total sample volume is greater than 0.5g.
- For water samples, it is recommended to use 0.22 μm or 0.45 μm filter membrane for the enrichment of bacteria with a total sample volume greater than 1 L.
- For DNA samples, the total sample volume is greater than 1 μg, DNA concentration is greater than 100 ng/μL, A260/280 = 1.8-2.0, and ensure no degradation of DNA and no contamination.
Please note that samples should not be repeatedly frozen or thawed during storage. When sending samples, please ship them with sufficient dry ice.
Sample Information
Please provide the specific concentration, volume, preparation time, and species origin for each sample. And inform about the specific information as well as the control and experimental samples (if there are groupings, describe in detail the grouping analysis information).
